The Brookeville Angel

The Brookeville Angel was sculpted from a live White Oak on Georgia Avenue (MD Rt. #97) at the site of the Marian Novitiate in 1994 by Stefan Saal. The Angel was commissioned by Father Donald Van Alstyne who dedicated the Angel to "All of God's Children" and officially "presented" it to the Town of Brookeville in celebration of the Town's Bicentennial in 1994.

      Subsequent events led to the Angel being removed from its original location and being placed in storage. In early 1998, with the assistance of a bequeathal from the late Francis McIntyre, the Brookeville Town Commissioners asked the artist, Stefan Saal, to erect the Angel on the grounds of the Brookeville Academy Community Center. The project was completed in the Spring of that year.
