Minutes:Â The July 2008 Commissioners Meeting minutes were approved.
Financial Report:Â The July financial report was reviewed
Bicentennial Celebration:Â plans were reviewed for the upcoming August 24 Incorporation Bicentennial. The Commissioners passed a resolution to allow musical entertainment on the lawn for this event only.
BEAC:Â the newly formed Brookeville Energy Advisory Committee has disbanded; all but 2 members have resigned. Commissioners will try to organize informal talks amongst interested residents concerning energy issues.
Academy Heating and Cooling:Â 2 quotes received: Both contractors say the system needs to be replaced estimated cost $6000-$7500. In addition, flue may need to be rerouted. Option to put in coils instead of heater to make more energy efficient, estimated cost $12,000 – $15,000; tank less water heater: est. $3500; control panels: est. $6500. Academy Manager still working on options and estimates bare minimum repairs at $7500 and up to $25,000 to overhaul the system. The AC system is also not working properly and repairs are being made.
MML Meeting:Â next meeting Aug. 28th in Town of Somerset. Commissioner Farquhar will represent Brookeville.
Clothes Collection Box:Â a Town Resident requested permission to have a Planet Aid Clothes Collection box in Town. The Commissioners decided against this request as there are several boxes in the local area and there is limited space in the Town.
Large Trash:Â the Town will have a trash dumpster placed in Town for residents to dispose of large, bulky items in October. Residents will be notified via mail and Brookeville Times.
309 & 311 Market St:Â owner was served an abatement notice. Owner did not show up at the County Judicial hearing. Still no final decision as to the status of the properties.
Academy Rental Rates:Â Academy Manager compared the Brookeville Academy current rental rates to other local venues. Academy is reasonably priced for its amenities and rates need to be raised as operating costs have increased. Commissioners approved a moderate rental rate increase for the general public and town residents. Jeff Issokson rates were modestly increased and the Commissioners approved his request to add Monday nights to his long term rental.
Handyman:Â Academy Manager requested permission to contract a handyman for various jobs around the Academy. Commissioners approved the request.
